Past Present and Future exhibition at Tremenheere Gallery.
Peter Lanyon acted briefly as Chairperson in 1960. His aerial abstract landscapes resonate with my love of viewing the land/sea from above. My connections are made through the amalgamation of sketches, photographs and imagination, seeing the Cornish landscape from a different perspective and the emotive experience of being in a particular place at a particular time. To Lanyon this embodied his personal thought processes whilst hang gliding.

My images are formulated from many flights in aeroplanes and wonderful views of the Cornish coastline in a micro light. Lanyon’s abstract interpretations were an emotional mix of weather conditions, historical understanding, line, colour, rhythm, an abstract melee of visual references. My paintings evolve from an obsession and fascination with the sea and swimming, the tangible elements of its ever changing nature-wild, calm, seductive swirls and undercurrents. I am lured by the beautiful patterns and colours.

Posted @withregram • @grimshawmartin Looking at @michelleohlsonartist Michelle Ohlson's delicately carved soap sculpture "A New Sink for Susie" at the NSA Tremenheere Exhibition, Past, Present, Future, it not only touched me by its beauty and delicacy, but also its warmth touched something deeper.
Michelle writes that the sculpture was inspired by Laura Knight's sensitive painting Susie and the Washbasin, Susie here being a Newlyn fisherman's daughter, modestly washing herself with cloth and basin in the corner of the family cottage.
Then I realised that what it also touched for me, was another Susie, my Susan, who would 30 years later (1959) and of the same age also be washing in the same way, clothed, in an unheated lean-to Hackney bathroom, sometimes with ice on the inside of the window.
My Susie continued all her life to carefully wash her hair in the basin (my pastel from about 1990, our bathroom basin being pale 'apricot'), fascinatingly never getting anything wet except her hands and hair - unlike me!
Each 30 years: Past (1929), Past (1959), Past (1990), Present (2021), Future?
The continuity of the domestic and their changes can bring one more close to the significance of passing time, than those 'bigger' events - thank you Michelle.
