My practice is committed to working between inner and outer landscapes. I work with abstraction, having spent many years working from the natural environment, interior spaces and still life. The abstract nature of my work relates back to a time when I worked on large abstract paintings that were based on intuition. My work is now once again very intuitive, automatism is embedded in my creative process, this helps to provide a space for memory and connects my subconscious mind. I will make work that alludes to landscape; however, it is the paint and marks that create the landscape rather than an actual depiction of a space/place. Some of my pieces are reminiscent of spaces within a body, such as cells or interior body parts. These help me make connections between body and place.
