‘from a crowd I face myself’

..thoughts of this Contemporary Artist:

Strangers are exciting, their mystery never ends. But, there’s nothing like looking at your own history in the faces of your friends”… Ani Defranco

“I don’t set out to produce art about one subject or another. I usually spontaneously respond to an emotive thought or feeling. I didn’t set out to be a figurative artist or to create artwork relating to social commentary but over the last ten years or so my work has evolved in this respect.

My current work using animation/sculptural/painting/drawing 2D and 3D has recently been heavily  influenced by global events in particular the tragic global wars and inhumanity that we face today, the rise of fascism and the tragic refugee situation. Animated, emotional and impassioned by the humanity and inhumanity I use the figure, human form and landscape, abstracting contour, shapes and lines, isolating these elements, overlaying and merging, creating confusion and complication. I investigate positives and negatives to project mood, emotion, disposition, association and interaction.

From Cornwall to SW France

“a natural transition for me after 30 years in my beloved Cornwall my body needed the warmth of the long summers of South West France. I had spent many happy years on holidays with my children and had grown to love the coast and mountains…”
