Sophie Capron
Abstract painter, Sophie Capron b1982, studied BA Hons Textile Art at Winchester School of Art. During this time she undertook a period of textile training in Japan culminating in an exhibition in Kyoto. She completed a residency with Picture Berlin and exhibited her work in an international exhibition the following year.
Sophie was asked to exhibit in the International Biennale ‘Women in Contemporary Art’ in France 2017, represented Cornwall in Lorient the previous year and exhibited her works in Galerie du Faouedic as a result. In the last 4 years Sophie has had 3 solo shows at Artwave West showing that her reputation as a contemporary abstract artist has gained recognition and success.
Alongside her artist practice she has been an active member of the Cornish artistic community, founding a series of artist talks and exhibitions under the banner of ‘SMALL’ at the Old Bakery Studios. In 2021 she was selected to become part of the Newlyn Society of Artists exhibiting regularly at Tremenheere Art Gallery as well as an associate member of Penwith Gallery, showing works twice a year.
Sophie is currently represented by Artwave West, Artdog London and Bils and Rye.
