Eye of the Lens — Spring Exhibition Opening

The Newlyn Society of Artists Spring Exhibition, Eye of the Lens, has got off to a great start at Tremenheere Gallery, with a strong turnout of artists, visitors, and supporters at the opening party on Saturday.

This year’s exhibition was curated by film critic & musician  Mark Kermode.  He said of his experience with us working on the show;

“It’s been a privilege to be asked to do it, I can’t say enough how brilliant the work is”

The opening evening itself was a great success, with a vibrant mix of conversation, engagement, and appreciation for the wide range of work on show. The exhibition brings together a diverse selection of contemporary artists, highlighting the strength and breadth of the Society today.

The exhibition was featured by BBC Radio Cornwall, with interviews recorded the day before the opening. Mark Kermode shared insights into his approach to curating the show, while artist Ken Turner — a long-standing member of the Society, approaching his 100th year — spoke about his work and enduring, independent spirit.

Neil Armstrong, the owner of Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens was also interviewed, reflecting on the aftermath of the recent storms.
