Michelle Ohlson

The dominant theme of my practice as a visual artist is the act of looking itself.
My interest lies in investigating the everyday world: lightbulbs, old taps, bars of soap and collections of old photographs have all provided starting points for projects.
I had a long career as a ceramicist before undertaking a degree in fine art and my practice remains process-led in its exploration of materials and techniques.
My work brings together the skills of a craft maker and these everyday subjects: an uneasy juxtaposition with which I hope to unsettle the viewers relationship with the everyday
and invite close scrutiny and reflection.
