Don’t miss ‘All Life comes from the Mountain’ - Marie-Claire Hamon’s solo show at the Borlase Smart Room, Back Rd West, St Ives 26/27/29th May and 2/3/4th June. Marie-Claire says: I am presenting in this show a body of work I made while working in a studio in Zennor in the past two and a half years. I walked the area extensively and Zennor hill became my favourite haunt. The magic of Zennor has compelled artists and writers for centuries to work in this small but powerful stretch of land, in this work I sought to tune in to this magic, to capture something of its spirit, lore, and ancient place, while I was also aware of the fast disappearance of the uniqueness and enchantment of such unspoilt natural environments, it was a privilege to immerse myself in the spirit of Zennor.

Libby Brooks, whose sculpture Tread Lightly was mu

Libby Brooks, whose sculpture Tread Lightly was much enjoyed in our recent show @tremenheeresculpturegardens has been having a great year! As well as being accepted as a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors and the RWA, she was selected to exhibit in group shows @studio.kind and @stonelanesculpture and has been shortlisted for the Ashburner Prize. She has won funding from @camp_membership to use the specialist fabrication lab @fablabplymouth to learn 3D scanning and 3D printing to further develop some of her works and has been awarded the UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) Funded Fab Lab Plymouth Mentorship Programme which funds her to receive specialist technical mentorship.
Libby says, “For the rest of the year I’m focusing on being brave and prolific in the studio, producing lots of new work and hopefully securing a quality location for a solo show in 2024 - offers welcome!”
