Biography
| Much of the intrigue and the achievement in this work lies in the apparent contradictions and in the way the juxtapositions invite the viewer to look again at the ordinary and the familiar. The crudeness of technique, materials and subject matter in these paintings is completely deliberate. The artist can tease and challenge the expectations of the public and like Sid Vicious singing “My Way” produce something sufficiently visceral and immediate to get under the aesthetic radar screen.
David Pearce is a self-taught artist living near Padstow. His work has been exhibited internationally since 1998. He recently had great success at New York’s hippest Art Fair the “Outsider” where he was featured by Marion Harris Fine Art who has been dealing his work from her Gallery on Park Avenue since 2003. His work is on permanent display at the Anthony Petullo Collection Milwaukee and he is represented by Waterhouse and Dodd, Cork Street, London. |
