Biography
| Open landscapes, cliffs and ocean: I was brought up in North Cornwall and have now lived on the West coast of the Lizard since 1976. Wild places, but they are deeply imprinted by man and a recognition of place and experience in sometimes the most abstract of my paintings from those who work and love these landscapes, I have taken as special compliments.
I loved farm work as a boy, and science, but fortunately my school art teacher insisted that I continue painting: a BSc Cybernetics (1968), computer design, then teaching, and ultimately taking up full time painting in 1999. I was awarded an MA in fine art from Falmouth College of Art & Design in 2000. Please refer to my website www.martingrimshaw for exhibiting details and more images. |
