AS was established to promote the theory and practice of art in the community (not as community art) based first in Kentish Town and then The Drill Hall, Chennies Street, off Tottenham Court, Road London. Worked and performed at Harrogate, Edinburgh, York, Chichester, Cardiff and many others centres in the UK and abroad directing performance and installations for action space. Some Action Space Events: 1971 Arts Council BLOW UP project at Serpentine Gallery, Cardiff and Liverpool 1974 Interdrama at Academy De Kunst, Berlin. Also Institute of Contemporary Art London 1977 Rotterdam Festival, Amsterdam and Beethoven Festivals in Holland and Bonn. 1968 & 1969 Environmental Structure Wapping Residency as Action Space with Arts Council Grant 1967 Joan Littlewood’s Bubble city and plastic paradise in the City of London Installation/action space 1964 –1966 Solo Exhibitions: Paintings & Structures ICA, Mansard, and Lords galleries London 1954 -1962 Mixed Exhibitions: Tate Gallery London, Beaux Arts Gallery supported by John Berger, Partisan, London Group, AIA, Centre 42, First Group Tour of Paintings to 12 Municipal Galleries. • A weeks residency with Ron Haselden, Paul Neagu, Stuart Jones, Sylvia Hallet, Pamela Hiley, David Templer, Rosemary Moore, Linda Martin, Kate Baker, Polanca Brown, building structures and making a performance for Art & Architecture as an • experiment in interdisciplinary skills collaboration, working in the grounds of York Minster.
